The coasts are now clear, Lagosians will be going to the polls to choose who will take the baton from Fashola. We have before us the illustrious sons of the soil. Their credentials are impeccable.

However, after ruminating for several hours, I made my choice today and the choice is Ambode.

Ambode life is about service. Inspite of his towering credentials from great institutions at home and from overseas, he put everything to the service of common man. 27 years of his 51 years was put to the service of Lagos State . He joined service at age of 24 as accountant grade II and rose through the ranks to become Accountant general. He knows Lagos in and out.

A Fulbright Scholarship for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship at Boston University, Massachusetts, USA , program winner .During this fellowship year, Akinbode also embarked in professional internship with stints at The federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Governor of Massachusetts office , world bank and IMF. A period that witnessed unprecedented brain drain from Nigeria, Ambode has his own mind. He returned to serve motherland. He returned to his calling, civil service. A very content man.

If a man can stay in the Civil Service of Nigeria for 27 years without blemish, we can trust him with the state treasury. He has seen it all . Ambode is an embodiment of  service, and governance is all about service. The son of a tailor , 6th of 10 Children , is not too far from the son of a farmer with 8 siblings . I can see myself in you. . Ambode, you have my vote.

I therefore call on tailors, petty traders, chauffeurs, teachers, members of the civil service, conductors, Igbos,  Hausas etc to begin the mass mobilization for one of their own. If he wins , you win.  There is an Ambode in every one of us.

Abiodun hails from Ipaja, Lagos State
