President Buhari’s second coming to power has changed the narratives both in the psych and attitudes of the citizens. Nigerians are once again readjusting their socio- economic status which has hitherto been lavished splendidly. The recession that came with the new administration is a measure that has not experienced for the past twenty years or more.
But the foundation for the recession was laid by the past administrations, which Buhari used as his campaign slogan that anchored on CHANGE; a campaign Nigerians embraced in totality by voting massively for Buhari, who once tested power in a military coup of 1983.
Therefore to reposition the country once again to greatness and demonstrate the trust that he enjoys from Nigerians, Buhari began in earnest to constitute measures to trace and recover the looted funds by the appointees of last administration. To achieve this second mission, he strengthened and continues to strengthen the anti-corruption agency like EFCC by appointing a die-hard anti-corruption czar, in the person of Ibrahim Magu. He has also delved into the nation’s Custom service by embarking on total cleansing of the economic cesspit through total overhauling and repositioning. Other income generating agencies like FIRS, NNPC, NPA etc., were not left out, as they are also feeling the impact of BUHARI administration.
In the political front, Buhari has not left anybody in doubt that he came to salvage the already battered image of the country. This he has done through bringing all the former political big wigs who were hitherto untouchable to book. Many are today, undergoing trials in various courts of competent jurisdiction for their roles in plunging the nation to a record recession as being experience now, through the maleficence activities.
However, while the efforts are being made to sanitize the country and create a new Nigeria by President Buhari, it is noteworthy to mention that even within the cabinet he assembled to help him in this noble course, there are still Black sheep that masquerade as latter day saints, but in true sense, they are more dangerously corrupt as they have labeled the immediate past administration.
Case in mind is, the recent revelation that the former secretary to the federal government (SFG) awarded some mouth-watering contracts to companies he has interest in, for the purposes of supplying the needed materials to the internal displaced persons in the north-east part of the country.
